Your existing Veleno BBS account is all you need. This first step only requests and assigns your personal FidoNet Point under 2:333/808. You are not asked to choose message areas, passwords, mailer options or technical settings during registration.

HOW IT WORKS
What is a Veleno BBS Point?
A Point is your personal FidoNet address hosted below the Veleno BBS node 2:333/808. For example, if Veleno assigns you 2:333/808.3, that address identifies you when you send and receive FidoNet NetMail. Your normal Veleno BBS account remains the account you use to sign in to the website.
Veleno BBS acts as your hub. Synchronet, SBBSecho and BinkP handle the FidoNet transport in the background, while the Point Center gives you a simpler web interface for messages and subscriptions.

Request access
Press the button once. Veleno checks whether your BBS account already owns a Point. If an existing Point can be safely matched, it is linked instead of creating a duplicate; otherwise an available 2:333/808.x address is assigned.

Enter the Point Center
After activation you can see your Point address and connection status. Technical credentials remain private and are never displayed in the browser.

Choose areas later
Only after activation can you browse the available EchoMail areas. You decide which areas to join. From there you can read, reply, request a rescan or leave an area without editing Synchronet configuration files.

Use NetMail like mail
FidoNet NetMail appears in the Veleno Mail Center together with your other messages. When you reply, Veleno automatically uses the Point assigned to your authenticated account as the FidoNet sender.

The sender address is selected server-side from your account. You do not have to type or choose your own Point address.

The destination does not need to belong to Veleno BBS. A valid remote FidoNet node or Point can be used as the recipient.
A remote Point writes to youFrom: 1:123/456.7 To: 2:333/808.3
You receive it in the same Mail Center. Reply keeps 2:333/808.3 as your sender and addresses the response back to 1:123/456.7.
ECHOMAIL VS NETMAIL
Two different ways to communicate
NetMail
Private point-to-point FidoNet mail. It is addressed to a specific FidoNet address, for example 2:333/808.3, and is presented in the Mail Center.
EchoMail areas
Public/shared discussion areas distributed across FidoNet. They are optional. After your Point is active, you can join only the areas you want from the Point Center.
Important: registration only activates your Point. It does not automatically subscribe your account to EchoMail areas.
